You can feel better
It is scary to take the first step and ask for help. But counseling is a natural way to connect.
If you have a history of traumatic experiences and they are impacting you today, trauma-focused therapy could be a path to healing. I specialize in trauma — physical, sexual, psychological, emotional abuse and neglect.
I use EMDR, which is eclectic and human-focused. Honestly it’s a funky and complex approach, but in my work, it’s the method that has helped the most people in the most surprising ways. Some things are horrible and should have never happened. It’s amazing that people can feel less upset by them, and feel better about themselves, too. At its core, EMDR makes intentional time to be with the events that have really hurt. In new ways. Yes, it is scary, and it’s different.
Getting ready for EMDR-style processing emphasizes developing new skills, enhancing your strengths and developing compassion for your wounded parts. Connecting to the wisdom that has helped you survive. This is empowering, even if you only feel a glimmer at first.
I work with adults, 24-64, and I offer individual counseling.
*Please note that I have weekday daytime appointments. Mostly: 9 am, 10 am, 11 am and 1 pm.*
